Evaluation part 7 What do i feel i have learnt in the progression from the preliminary task to the product?

Throughout this coursework i have learned how to develop editing skills so therefore i have learnt how to edit different elements of a film. I have learnt how to edit sound and create my own music which is always needed in a thriller to build suspense and tension. Also during this short film we have made different titles which blend in with the type of thriller. In our preliminary exercise we had no music and the titles were very plain and just at the beginning so therefore we have made our thriller more effective by adding colour to attract the audience's attention. 

In the pictures above they show different facial expressions so therefore this has improved acting skills as they are both the same people as in the preliminary and they didn't not use any face expressions and they show us how the characters hair/costume is completely different in the preliminary exercise it is just normal clothes then in the actual thriller they use different costumes which portrays the characters differently. The thriller shows progression as the editing and facial expressions have improved and how the titles are very effective because they fit in perfectly with the type of thriller it is because it is mysterious and involves murder/violence so therefore the titles are in red which represents blood.

Evaluation Part 6 what have your learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

We used final cut express to edit our film.



we used youtube to give us an idea of what to do as we viewed different thriller movies so therefore this gave us a good idea of what type of thriller to use e.g. psychological.

We used mini dv video camcorders to do our filming and then we captured the film on final cut express and edited out film and cut out what parts were not needed.

we used mobile phones to bluetooth the pictures we took of our different locations of our thriller .

We used Bluetooth to transfer different files onto our computer and blog, this included  the different locations of our thriller movie

 

we used facebook to get people we know to take our survey so therefore it gave us an idea about what type of thriller would attract the audience more.

Evaluation Part 4 Who would be the audience for your media product?

The audience of our film is 15- 21 year olds because we think that they would enjoy the thriller more as it involves people that are approximately the same ages as them so therefore it may catch their attention. basically our film is targeted at young people like teenagers because they may respond to it better than a younger audience or older audience. I know this because when i watch thriller movies they mostly attract me when its teenagers in them because it makes it more mysterious and the same with my age group my survey monkey shows this. i asked people of the same age group to what they thought about thrillers and what they preferred and most of them said mysterious as they have cliffhangers. Also many people that answered the questions in the survey said that they liked the suspense in their favorite thriller movies so therefore we decided to build suspense in our thriller as it would attract more people.

Evaluation Part 2 How does your media project represent particular social groups?

In this thriller young people are shown in a negative way because it shows you how they can be very disrespectful and how name calling can affect a person and how they could change and get you back for abusing them physically and mentally. It also shows how women are not aware of people following them as they could get set up by another person. Also in this thriller it shows how young people can easily approach each other.In a way in our thriller we use stereotypes depending on the way a character is represented like the psycho guy was represented as someone thats been bullied and getting revenge on the people that took advantage of him, so therefore teenagers and people that have been bullied have been portrayed negatively. Also it shows how if you are dressed in a tracksuit you are portrayed as a bully or someone that isn't a very nice person. Also in this thriller it shows male dominance as the man is in control of the women and how he is getting away with watching the woman without being caught. It also shows intelligence as the main guy has a secret pathway to where he is leading the girl to so she falls right into his trap.

Evaluation Part 1

The conventions of a thriller genre are crime at the core of the narrative which leads to murder most of the time,a complex narrative structure, with false clues and sometimes resolutions.Also thrillers they always have extraordinary events happening in an ordinary situation, thrillers show themes of identity usually too so they give you an idea of who is the antagonist or protagonist. Titles often reflect on an aspect of an antagonist/protagonist's psychological state.  In our thriller we used many different thriller conventions such as a crime happening in our thriller of someone about to be murdered,this recaps back to crime at a core of the narrative which leads to murder, we have used this convention of a thriller very well as the music builds tension to the time when someone gets murdered.

Also in our thriller we give many different clues as to what is going to happen e.g. psycho having a secret pathway to where the innocent person is going. In this thriller there is also extraordinary events happening in an ordinary situation as an innocent person is at the park being watched without noticing and in our thriller we show the identity of the different characters as the psycho is wearing a long black jacket which shows elements of power. Our thriller is similar to the film when a stranger calls so therefore these screen shots show the similarities of walking through the door not knowing that you are being watched or followed. When a stranger calls influenced me because it shows you how stalking can affect a person and how it always turns out to be bad as the innocent people are not aware of it so therefore they are in trouble and they don't even know it yet until the stalker strikes.

In this thriller what is different is that the antagonist doesn't look scary at all so therefore the audience  wouldn't expect him to be the bad guy as he doesn't look like one. We used this idea because in the film the audience may know who the bad guy is from the beginning but the characters in the film wouldn't as he just looks like a normal person in the street so therefore he wouldn't be suspected at all, this is very smart because it shows the audience that he may get away with his crimes which would make them watch it more so they can find out if he's going to get caught or get away with all the murders/crimes his committed but he is wearing black which symbolizes dark and mysterious.

What is Backstabber about?

Backstabber is about an innocent girl walking from the park to school due to a leaflet she found on a tree. She finds out she's very interested in what the leaflet says and goes straight to the school. The audience can see that someone is watching her but she has no idea and then it turns out when she goes to the school she is set up and then murdered by the mad guy in school. This mad guy also gets revenge on someone that walked into him so therefore it means he is bullied

This is the title sequence to mission impossible II. I think this title sequence is very effective because it shows you different images to give you an idea that it is a action thriller film. Also the title sequence is very effective because during the titles it also plays the theme song which could catch the audiences attention as the theme is tense.

This is the title sequence of Halloween. This is a very effective title sequence because the titles are orange which represents the colour of a pumpkin and it also shows you images of a pumpkin which is very effective because pumpkins symbolise Halloween which fits in with the name of the film because it is called Halloween so therefore it gives the audience the idea that the film is going to be scary. Also the music is very effective because it creates suspense and tension which is most likely to get the audience anxious to what is going to happen throughout the film.

KO Productionz livetype

This is a short video that we made on livetype to show our production company. Our production company is called KO productionz which stands for knockout productions. we came up with this idea because we thought it would be different.

Location

These locations show the main parts of our clip because this is where most of the action is going to happen like the person backstabbing the protagonist tricking them.                 

Collateral

This is the opening of collateral is about a cab driver that finds himself the hostage of an engaging contract killer as he makes his rounds from hit to hit during one night in LA. He must find a way to save both himself and one last victim. The opening sequence of this is very mysterious because we have no idea what's going to happen so therefore it makes the audience wonder what is going to happen.

The production company for this is paramount pictures.

Panic Room

This is the opening of panic room, panic room is about A woman and her teenage daughter become imprisoned in the panic room of their own house by 3 criminals. The opening sequence of this is very effective because the music at the beginning is very tense which shows that the movie is going to be a thriller movie or a mysterious one. Also in the title name it gives you an idea of what the movie is about so therefore if the movie is called panic room it must be about people being trapped in a room and panicking.
